Ding Junhui made it ranking career title lucky number 13 earlier this year with victory at the World Open, defeating Karen Wilson 10-3.
The win moved ‘The Dragon’ to world number 2 and also saw China’s shining star move to sixth on the all-time list of ranking titles won, taking over Mark Selby and Neil Robertson in the process.
Ding also claimed victory at the World Cup alongside fellow Chinaman Liang Wenbo back in July. But aside from those successes, has not progressed beyond the last 32 of a tournament this season.
Ding has twice reached the semi-finals of the 188BET Champion of Champions. In 2014 be beat Dominic Dale and Hawkins before succumbing to O’Sullivan in the last four.
He also lost out to the eventual champion last year when John Higgins won a final-frame decider in the semis after Ding had beaten Ali Carter and Stuart Bingham to win his group.
