Marco Fu defeated reigning Champion of Champions winner John Higgins the Scot’s home soil to earn a spot in the 2017 Champion of Champions tournament.
The current World number six won eight frames in a row to cement his spot in Coventry at the Ricoh Arena. And he’ll be hoping to improve his best finish which is currently as a group finalist back in 2014.
Fu is yet to hit the ground running this season – last 32 appearances at the World Open and the China Championship are his best finishes in ranking events. At the 16-man Hong Kong Masters invitational event in July he beat Barry Hawkins 5-3 in the quarter-finals before falling to Neil Roberson 6-4 in the semis.
