Robertson won his eighth world ranking title at the 2013 Wuxi Classic, beating John Higgins 10-7 in the final.

Robertson showed a high level of consistency during the 2012/13 season, reaching four major finals and finishing the campaign ranked No 2 in the world.

In the first three of those finals he had to settle for the runner-up prize. At the International Championship in Chengdu he lost 10-8 to Judd Trump, after leading 8-6. In the Betfair Masters final he went down 10-6 to Mark Selby, missing out on the chance to win back-to-back titles at snooker's biggest invitation event. And in the Players Tour Championship Grand Final he let slip a 3-0 lead against Ding Junhui, losing 4-3.

But Robertson finally captured the seventh ranking title of his career at the China Open in Bejing, beating Mark Selby 10-6 in the final.

He also won a European Tour event in Poland, the Gdynia Open, edging out Jamie Burnett 4-3 in the final.

However the season ended in disappointment for Robertson as he lost 10-8 to Robert Milkins in the first round of the World Championship.
