Shaun Murphy joins an elite list of five players who have appeared in every Champion of Champions, but is yet to win a match in the event.
‘The Magician’ will be hoping to conjure up a better performance this year after being denied that pleasure by Mark Selby, Marco Fu, Yan Bingtao and Neil Robertson in previous years.
The former World Champion earned his spot by defeating Judd Trump at the Gibraltar Open in March to claim his only ranking title of the season.
“I had felt as if good things were coming for a while in the run up to Gibraltar. Such is the standard now that any year when you get into the winners’ enclosure has to count as a success.”
